Twenty

It's September, and every September there are a few things that mark the calendar. Labor day, yes, Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, and the Eleventh.

Yes, I capitalized it.

If this image didn't give you pause, you may not be old enough to understand. I visited these towers many times, and my heart hurts every time I see them.  Is it hard to believe that it has been 20 years since September 11?  It is to me.  It feels like it was a day that lives somewhere in my nightmares and not something that we all lived through.

In the days following the terrorist attacks, the people of this country stood together in ways that seem unattainable. In the history books this week will be met with a somber peace. It's a binding moment, a coming together in a way that is unexpected and unwanted.

           But here we are.

There are many ways we can honor this day.  I go back to the flower wreaths they use for covid. Make a beautiful peace sign with macrame, a little patriotic rexlace or paracord bracelet.

Or go as far as Sylvia Mackie, and make a macrame flag.

In our darkest moment, we came together.  We witnessed heroics that we never thought possible, of ourselves and others. I will never forget where I was, what I was doing and neither will any of you. I don't have much to add about this day, except that we should always remember to hug each other and always remember the Eleventh.

                                                         Peace my friends, weave tightly.
